Planes, Trains, Automobiles...and Boats.

Wow, traveling to New York involved taking many different means of transportation. I woke up at 3:30 am, drove to RDU, flew to JFK at 7, took the JFK train and transferred to another train at Penn Station, took the subway, walked a few blocks, hailed a cab, walked a few more blocks, and finally carried my luggage up 5 flights of stairs to my very own New York apartment. After settling in, we ate lunch at a swanky Asian fusion cafe called "mooncake" and familiarized ourselves with Trinity Wall Street Church. The church is among the oldest in New York and today has become a major tourist attraction. It was interesting how tourist wandered in with strollers, cameras, and subway maps, while some woshippers were moved to tears in prayer at the alter. The dichotomy of touristy destination and house of worship was interesting to say the least, and certainly unique to Trinity. Afterwards, we took power naps and "Sister Permeta" took us on a ferry ride around Staten Island. There were some really great views of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We "moseyed" back--New Yorkers can definitely tell we aren't local be how we walk--and ate a nice dinner in the apartments (which really is an apartment building for nuns) with some great fellowship and conversation. Shower (check), blog (check) now sleep. ✌️
